School Bus Safety Rules of Gujarat

• Every bus transporting school children should be labelled as “School Bus” or “College Bus” both on the front and the back of the bus.
• Suppose a bus is a hired one, then a board indicating On School Duty” should be placed in front of the bus
• No school bus should carry children more than it is permitted
• A first aid box is necessary in every school bus and it should contain relevant medicines and equipments
• All school buses should have horizontal grills in it for better safety of school bus children
• Every school bus must have an ISI marked fire extinguisher, which is visible to all school bus passengers
• The name of the school or educational institution and an unexpired telephone number of the school must be written on the bus
• There should be a strong lock system in every school bus
• School bus drivers should have at least 10 years of experience in driving heavy vehicle and must be free from all traffic related cases
• A female school bus attendant should be appointed to take care of school bus children
• Space should be provided to students for keeping bags safely
• For ensuring safety, school teachers can accompany students in the school bus
